Tanning in summers is as common as getting thirsty in this scorching heat. And we know y’all fear getting tanned, but with the unforgiving sun rays, we end up a shade darker or two.
So what is tanning?
The process of melanin (skin pigment) growth caused by exposure to sunshine is known as tanning. This is the body's natural defence mechanism against sun damage.
With the temperature rising to up to 50 degrees and India preparing for a scorching summer season, we’re all looking for ways to soothe the effect of summer on us.
So it’s time to comfort your skin with some effective tan-removal home remedies, exfoliating DIYs with ingredients super-rich antioxidants and skin-lightening bioactive compounds.
Stated below are some of our favourite simple yet effective organic recipes to reduce the tan & regain the glow:
❥ Lemon Juice & Honey
Lemon juice's bleaching powers aid in the natural removal of suntan, while honey maintains your skin smooth and supple. Honey contains antibacterial and antioxidant effects, and the bleaching action of lemon will give your skin a natural glow.
Combine one tablespoon of lemon juice with one tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture to your skin for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.
This should be done at least once a week. Also, don't overdo it and try to keep honey on your face for the specified amount of time.
❥Turmeric & Bengal Gram Flour (Besan)
This turmeric face pack is ideal for gently exfoliating dead skin cells and removing sun damage. Turmeric can combat powerful sun rays and minimise the tanning effect on your skin. In a mixing bowl, combine two tablespoons Besan, a pinch of turmeric, milk, and one tablespoon of rose water. Apply this pack to your tanned skin and leave it on for 20 minutes before washing it off with cold water. You can also use some water on the dried face pack to gently massage your skin.
❥ Lemon juice, Cucumber & Rose water
Although saturated lemon juice effectively removes tan, it is not for everyone. As a result, a face pack containing lemon juice is always recommended.
In a bowl, combine one tablespoon of each of the components for this face pack. Apply this face pack to the tanned areas and wait 10-15 minutes for it to dry. Rinse with cold water. Lemon juice will help prevent tanning, and cucumber has antioxidants that are healthy for your skin since they protect you from irritation and solar damage.
Rosewater, like cucumber, is high in antioxidants, which help preserve the pH balance of your skin.
❥ Oatmeal & Buttermilk
This face pack is jam-packed with fantastic skin tanning effects. While oatmeal exfoliates the skin, buttermilk's lactic acid softens it and improves the skin's tone. Combine three tablespoons buttermilk and two tablespoons oats in a mixing bowl. Mix it all to make a paste, and then apply it to the affected region. Allow 30 minutes for the mixture to dry before washing it with warm water.
❥ Plain Yoghurt & Honey
Honey maintains your skin supple and silky, while plain yoghurt has anti-tanning effects. Combine two teaspoons of yoghurt and two tablespoons of honey. Apply the mixture to the affected regions and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
